So I am sitting at my dining room table going through the mail (for the past few weeks, I’m afraid), and what should I come across?
A big red Postcard from Dick Blick inviting me to come to their new Philly store at 1330 Chestnut Street. That’s a little east of Broad. To entice me even further there is a Grand Opening Celebration from August 21- September 7th where you can enter to win prizes from a $5000 Art School Scholarship to a $75 Blick Gift Card.
Have you been to a Dick Blick store? I had only shopped online from them until I visited Chicago a few years ago with my husband. We had only two hours unscheduled “downtime” on that mostly business trip. We spent every minute in the Dick Blick store! It’s sort of like Pearl Art on steroids.
My postcard entitles me to 40% off one non sale item. Perhaps they have a similar offer to print out on their website or in the paper. I will let you search for that on your own.

For those of you who haven’t gotten there yet, it’s great! It’s on the lower level of the building (underneath West Elm), and it’s all very new and shiny. The staff is very helpful, friendly, and knowledgable, and the stock….Well, let’s just say one could easily go broke in there! All in all, highly recommended.
