Polymer Clay Artists come together….

Our Community is bigger than we realize.  I posted a link to our blog on  the Polymer Clay Central message board and we had almost 500 visits.  We got Ellen’s beads and our blog picked up on Polymer Clay Daily and had almost 1500 visits on that day alone!  Not bad for basically a fancy [...]

Thank you to our Sponsors

I have just posted the Thank you webpage for our generous sponsors of our annual retreat, Polydelphia! 2007.   These vendors and artists helped us to raise a record sum which will help us underwrite Master Classes and Guest Artists for the coming year.
We will also be using some of the funds to pay for transportation [...]

Great Digital Photography starts with Balance

White Balance that is.  So the first tool I got to help me with my photography set up is the ExpoDisc.  You can read about it here: http://www.a-digital-eye.net/expodisc.html.  It has made a huge difference.
I just put the filter over my lens and use the manual white balance feature to set the stage.  You take the [...]

Beauty by Gwen

I should have photographed the back of this lovely pin by Gwen.  She was obviously paying attention in Seth Savarick’s class because the back is as elegant and finished as the front.
Gwen told us about her technique involving a grater and a little mess with some acrylic paint and recombining to make the clay “cane” that [...]

Patty’s Pretties

Guild Member Patty has really been paying attention to our Guest Artists.  She amazes me because she actually carries the lesson forward into a well thought out and elegant finished piece.  (I have a lot of cane fragments and UFOs* on my worktable!)
She has incorporated slices of the cane she made in Jana’s class into the first neckpiece.  [...]

Under the sea…

Count me as one of the folks who loved our visit from Guest Artist, Christi Friesen.  I had a little piece in Show and Tell at the recent meeting.  Here’s my little guy.  He has Yellow Turqoise beads, but Gwen really liked the starfish with “bling.”

All’s Square

Remember you saw them here first!  These are some of Ellen’s new creations.  They are beautiful in person, and I can’t wait to see them strung up.  I am always struck by Ellen’s color sense and layered style.   These beads are an excellent example!
And for the folks who want information on the photo setup.  Keep [...]

Remember when you first picked up the clay?

I remember being so amazed with each creation that I demanded my family come and marvel at each one.  There was so much excitement over every new technique…. and there were so many new techniques to learn!  Of course at one point, I do seem to recall my husband saying, “No, I don’t want to [...]

Marvelous Martha’s Pins

Martha showed off these works in progress as part of Show and Tell at today’s Monthly Meeting.  We loved the silkscreening and the shiny envirotex finish.
We are looking forward to seeing them completed with copper embellishments and some new layers of silkscreening when she brings them back to our September meeting….
I got a photography set [...]

“Hole-y Tube Bead, Batman!”

Jeannie Havel demonstrated the newest “I have to have it!” polymer clay tool at Polydelphia!:  The Makin’s Clay Core Adapter.  Put this little disc in your Makin’s clay gun and extrude tubes of clay with the hole for stringing already in place.  Great for tube beads and bracelets!
You can get yours from Karen at Clay [...]
